About The Belle Curve

Looking back, I’ve always been a writer. During my first extended stay away from home at age 12, I kept a detailed daily journal. I spent six weeks at a ballet school outside of Boston and documented the entire experience in first-person prose. In high school, the only club I joined was the publication staff of the poetry magazine called The Muse. A college English professor requested permission to submit my research paper on the short stories of Flannery O’Connor for the literary magazine. I agreed, and my paper was selected for publication.

When my career in wealth management began, I lost touch with writing. Slowly, I dipped my toe back into writing with stodgy and boring quarterly client update letters. As social media and blogging became mainstream, I found a more authentic voice on Twitter and predecessor blogs. Finally, in 2018, I joined Ritholtz Wealth Management, and the blog - The Belle Curve - was born.

I write about personal finance, markets, and investing with a focus on women investors and women advisors. My New York Times op-ed, Consider Firing Your Male Broker, was a call to attract more women to the career of financial advisor. Mixed among posts about behavioral finance, financial planning, and markets, you will also find my interests in yoga, reading, and raising young children.

I moved The Belle Curve to Substack in early 2025 in search of more community members.

About Me

I am an investment advisor at Ritholtz Wealth Management. I specialize in working with high-net-worth clients and serve on the firm’s investment committee.

I have been an active contributor and commenter on the financial services industry. In 2019, I wrote the viral New York Times opinion piece, “Consider Firing Your Male Broker.”. I have been featured or quoted in publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, InvestmentNews, Morningstar Advisor Magazine, and Business Insider, and I am a member of the CNBC Advisor Council. I enjoyed speaking at industry conferences, particularly in serving as a conference moderator and emcee.
